I was actually born in Shrewsbury but I have never been back,” said Fletcher, who made 33 appearances for Scotland – his mother’s home country – and scored 10 goals.
“I don’t actually know why I was born in Shrewsbury, we weren’t even living there at the time either.”
Wrexham, flying high in League Two, will aim to cause a third round cup shock in the cross-border derby against Shrewsbury, who play in the division above Phil Parkinson’s outfit, at The Croud Meadow.
“The FA Cup is a great competition,” said Fletcher, who scored a hat-trick as Wrexham beat promotion rivals Barrow 4-1 on New Year’s Day.
“It is always nice to play in the cup so I am looking forward to it.
“It is a derby, close by and we will have a great following there.
“It is a big game for us. We want to get into the next round as much as the fans do so it will be a good game.”

Wrexham are well placed for a second successive promotion this season – and boss Phil Parkinson believes it’s possible for the club to reach the Premier League one day.
Parkinson guided the Welsh side back into the Football League for the first time in 15 years during 2023, as the Red Dragons claimed the National League title.
This season, they sit in the League Two automatic promotion places at the halfway stage, and while their manager is in no danger of getting ahead of himself or taking anything for granted, he does believe the club has the potential to progress all the way to the top flight under owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds.
