Fabrizio Romano says Ange Postecoglou is absolutely ‘in love’ with £40m midfielder

Tottenham Hotspur continue to be linked with a move for Conor Gallagher.

The Chelsea midfielder was a top target for Spurs in the summer, with the north London club reportedly making a £40m deadline day bid for the England international in the last transfer window.

Now, Gallagher is again being linked to Tottenham, and according to Fabrizio Romano, there’s a clear reason why they want to sign Gallagher.

Indeed, speaking on Kick, Romano says that Tottenham want Gallagher because Ange Postecoglou is in love with the player, claiming that the Australian thinks the 24-year-old is utterly brilliant.

Postecoglou is in love with Gallagher

Romano shared what he knows about Gallagher.

“Do Tottenham like and appreciate Conor Gallagher? For sure, Tottenham tried to bring in Conor Gallagher in the summer? Why did Tottenham want Gallagher? Because Ange Postecoglou, from what I’m hearing, is in love with the player, he believes he’s a top player, Tottenham really appreciate Gallagher for sure, but are Tottenham and Chelsea in talks with Gallagher? Right now, at the beginning of January? No,” Romano said.

Go and get him

Signing Gallagher may be easier said than done, but we can’t help but think that Spurs should be doing all they can to get this one over the line.

Ange Postecoglou has more than proven that he’s worth backing in the transfer window, and if he thinks that Gallagher is the man to transform this side, Spurs have to push to make this signing.

Of course, doing business with Chelsea isn’t easy for Tottenham due to the rivalry that exists, while Gallagher has also been a key player for the Blues this season, so we may have to file this transfer in the unlikely column.

However, when there’s a will, there’s a way, and if Postecoglou truly does love Gallagher, Daniel Levy needs to get on the phone and try to negotiate this deal with Chelsea.
