Jets to Retain Coach Robert Saleh, GM Joe Douglas for 2024, per Report | National Sports | starlocalmedia.com

Incredible Player has played his final game for the NY Jets (for real this time) After what Transpired within.

The NY Jets officially announced on Tuesday that quarterback Zach Wilson would miss his second consecutive game this Thursday due to a concussion, meaning that veteran Trevor Siemian is expected to start in his place.

With just one game remaining in the season after the team’s Thursday Night Football matchup with the Cleveland Browns this week, there’s a very good chance that Wilson has already played his final game for the Jets.

Of course, this statement has been made before. When Wilson was benched following a four-interception outing against the New England Patriots in 2022, many believed his Jets career was over.

The same was true when he was subsequently benched later in the year for former CFL quarterback Chris Streveler. Surely, then, Wilson would never play another game for the Jets, right?

Alas, that wouldn’t be the case again, as Wilson would step right back into the starting role following Aaron Rodgers’ injury in Week 1 of the following season. When he was benched a few months later for the lowly Tim Boyle, it once again felt like the end of the road.

Yet, just two weeks later, Wilson was back as the starter. But following a concussion suffered in Week 15, it feels like this might really be the end for Wilson in a Jets uniform.

Zach Wilson will not play any game for the NY Jets

The Jets reportedly met with Wilson after his initial benching this season and essentially confirmed that he would not be on the roster in 2024. The two sides are likely to seek out trade opportunities in the offseason.

It’s likely in the best of both parties to move on at this point. The relationship between Wilson and the Jets has deteriorated, and it’s hard to imagine it can be repaired at this point.

That means Wilson’s final opportunity to start a game for the Jets will likely be the final game of the season in Week 18 against the New England Patriots. Now, there’s a good chance Wilson will be cleared in time to play in that game. But that doesn’t mean it’s going to happen.

The Patriots have been Wilson’s kryptonite since entering the NFL, and it seems unlikely that either Wilson or the Jets will want to trot him out at quarterback for that game, especially behind a makeshift offensive line.

We’ve said it before. He’s been counted out plenty of times in the past. But this time, it really feels like the end of the road for Zach Wilson with the Jets. He’s likely started his final game for the organization that drafted him.
