Texans Place Safety Jimmie Ward on Injured Reserve – NFL Injury Tracker
DEC 27 WARD TO IR The Houston Texans have taken a major blow to their secondary ahead of their final stretch of the regular season.
According to an announcement from the team, veteran safety Jimmie Ward has been placed on injured reserve, leaving a major hole in the team’s pass defense.
The Texans got ahead of this move earlier on Wednesday by claiming former first-round pick Kareem Jackson off of waivers from the Denver Broncos. But at 35 years old, Jackson may not be enough to fill the void
Ward had been battling injuries throughout the latter half of the season and will finish his first year in Houston with 50 tackles and an interception.
DEC 14 THOMAS TO IR The Houston Texans have lost yet another key defensive back to injury for an extended period.
This time, it is cornerback Tavierre Thomas, who was moved to injured reserve on Sunday morning with a hamstring injury.
Thomas suffered the injury vs. in the team’s 30-6 loss to the New York Jets last week, and was originally expected to miss 1-2 weeks. However, the injury proved to be more troublesome than originally expected, resulting in the IR designation.
The loss of Thomas leaves the Texans, who were already shorthanded on Sunday, with a potentially big hole in their secondary for their playoff push down the stretch.
Thomas has been a key part of the Texans revamped defense this season, making 30 tackles with two forced fumbles.
DEC 13 LEVIS LIMITED Houston Texans QB C.J. Stroud is unlikely to play on Sunday vs. the Titans, after suffering a concussion vs. the Jets in Week 14.
And now, it appears as if Titans rookie QB Will Levis, will not be 100 percent when Houston heads to Nashville either.
Per the Titans Wednesday injury report, Levis was listed as a ‘limited’ participant in practice with an ankle injury.
With that said, also carried the same designation last Wednesday, before being a full participant for the remainder of the week.
Levis went on to have a fantastic game against the Dolphins on Sunday, leading the Titans on an unlikely comeback from two scores down to upset Miami 28-27.
