Makes Sense for Bengals as Playoff Push Continues as a sensational defense was added

Cincinnati could give their defensive line a boost ahead of their Week 17 matchup with Kansas City

CINCINNATI — No one claimed veteran defensive tackle Sebastian Joseph-Day on Monday afternoon, but the Bengals should certainly be interested in the 28-year-old.

The Chargers surprisingly cut the veteran last week. Any team that claimed Joseph-Day would’ve had to pay him over $700,000 for the final two regular season games of the season, which is why he cleared waivers. Now he’s a free agent and can sign with any team.

Cincinnati’s defense struggled in Saturday’s 34-11 loss to Pittsburgh. It was their first game without star defensive tackle DJ Reader, who suffered a season-ending quad injury in Week 15.

Joseph-Day wouldn’t totally fill the gigantic void in the Bengals’ defensive line following Reader’s injury, but he would certainly help. He has 31 tackles, three sacks and 11 quarterback hits this season.

The Bengals can offer him instant playing time, as they look to win their final two regular season games and make the playoffs for a third-straight year.

The Bengals are decent-sized underdogs entering Sunday’s matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs. Cincinnati is a 7.5-point underdog as of this writing.
