Micah Parsons Calls Out Unfair Officiating in Dallas Cowboys’ Painful Loss to Miami Dolphins which led to…
Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons didn’t hold back in expressing his true thoughts on the officiating during their Week 16 loss to the Miami Dolphins.
It’s safe to say that Parsons isn’t happy at all, especially in what he considers as inconsistent officiating from the referees during the game. Speaking to reporters postgame, the Cowboys defensive star shared his belief that some of the calls against them (or no calls that went into the favor of the Dolphins) were “BS.”
“It’s mind-blowing, the things that are getting called, and the positions that we get put in. We just have to learn how to fight the adversity. I know a lot of it is BS, but it’s the world we live in. We’ve got the star on our helmet. … It’s just hard to play defense,” Parsons explained, via Jon Machota of The Athletic.
Parsons particularly took offense on the roughing the passer call whistled against him in the second quarter, when the Dolphins were on a second-and-1 situation while on the Cowboys’ nine-yard line. Tagovailoa threw an incomplete pass, but the call on Parsons negated it. On the next play, Miami scored.
“(The ref) said my intent was to punish the quarterback. How am I trying to punish him if I’m just trying to sack him? It’s not like it was a late hit. It’s not like I’m leaving my feet. I didn’t lead with my head. I don’t know how you make that call,” Parsons said of the rather shocking penalty.
What made matters worse for the Dallas Cowboys was the fact that Micah Parsons had been held in multiple plays but nothing was called in his favor.
The Cowboys’ defense has been largely criticized in the game for failing to get a key stop, with the Miami Dolphins winning via a walk-off field goal courtesy of Jason Sanders. Dallas didn’t force any turnover, leading many to blame them for the loss.
But perhaps they deserve some slack considering how the game was officiated, as Parsons described.
Micah Parsons’ message to the referees didn’t end during the postgame presser, however. After the contest, the two-time Pro Bowler and former NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year took to his Instagram Stories to plead the referees to improve their officiating.
Moreover, in case he did something that angered the referees and led them to officiate him differently, he apologized for it.
It’s unknown if the NFL and the referees will take Parsons’ message kindly, though it’s certainly going to bring more attention to the dynamic between him and the officials.
