49ers Continue to be Without Two veteran players at Practice due to what transpired.
The 49ers injury report hasn’t gotten any better from last week.
Six players were held out of practice Thursday due to injuries with Arik Armstead (foot, knee) and Javon Hargrave (hamstring) as the headlines. Kyle Shanahan had zero updates to provide on whether the 49ers feel optimistic of them improving throughout the week in order to play on Monday against the Ravens.
But Shanahan is likely just keeping that close to the chest. Armstead has been out of action since Week 14 against the Seahawks. Initially, the 49ers had estimated one-to-two games he would miss. Should he miss a third consecutive game, then his status will officially become concerning. The same can be said with Hargrave who is working his way back from a pulled hamstring.
Hargrave missed the last weeks game against the Cardinals, so the 49ers did not have their usual interior starters on the defensive line. That is part of why the 49ers looked so weak in run defense. Losing one of them is manageable, but to lose both certainly stings and gives offenses an area to attack them. That is where the Ravens will be sure to exploit, especially since they are a strong running offense.
The bright side is that the 49ers get an extra day due to playing on Monday Night Football. A clearer picture will start to as the week progresses with more practices. Armstead and Hargrave need just one practice to give themselves a shot at playing.
