Jaguars To Play Without Two Starting QB This Week Due To Scary injury.

There’s a good chance the Jacksonville Jaguars will be without quarterback Trevor Lawrence for their matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.

Lawrence, who is in concussion protocol, did not participate in practice on Wednesday or Thursday and will likely watch from the sidelines at Raymond James Stadium, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Thursday.“Generally, if a quarterback or really any player is not able to practice Wednesday and not able to practice Thursday, almost always that means a player will not be able to progress fast enough through concussion protocol to be able to play on Sunday,”

Rapoport said on NFL Game Day Kickoff.

Veteran backup quarterback C.J. Beathard would start for Jacksonville if Lawrence can’t play. Jacksonville will wrap up its regular season against the Buccaneers, Carolina Panthers and Tennessee Titans.

The Jaguars will likely face the Buccaneers without star quarterback Trevor Lawrence, who remains in concussion protocol as of Thursday and expected to sit in Week 16, according to NFL Media.

Lawrence, who has yet to practice this week, is still working through an ankle injury that he initially suffered during Jacksonville’s Week 13 loss to the Bengals.

The bigger issue is he remains in the league’s concussion protocol after getting injured during this past weekend’s loss to the Ravens.

Despite injuring his ankle, Lawrence started the Jaguars’ last two games. C.J. Beathard is in line to start in Lawrence’s place against the Buccaneers, who, like the Jaguars, are in first place in their respective division.

Beathard, who has been listed on the team’s injury report with a left shoulder injury (he’s been a full participant in this week’s practices), is a seven-year veteran who has made 12 regular-season starts.

Just three weeks remain in the 2023 regular season and this weekend’s holiday slate is primed to feature several matchups that could shake up the playoff picture.

The Jaguars began the week of practice without quarterback Trevor Lawrence due to a concussion (also listed as an ankle injury). Lawrence also sat out of Thursday’s practice, and according to NFL Media, it “seems like” the Jags will start C.J. Beathard against Tampa as Lawrence is set to miss his first career game.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are planning for Trevor Lawrence to start Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns, but need to evaluate the franchise quarterback in pregame warmups before making a final decision, sources told ESPN.

Lawrence will be just six days removed from a high ankle sprain — an injury that typically sidelines players for multiple weeks, but it would be consistent for him to play considering that he always does.

Lawrence has never missed a game due to injury in high school, college or his nearly three full seasons in the NFL.

Lawrence is seeking to continue that streak Sunday in Cleveland against a tough Browns defense, with Jaguars backup quarterback C.J. Beathard prepared to start if Lawrence struggles during pregame warmups.

Despite officially being listed as questionable after getting limited practice reps, the Jaguars believe Lawrence is physically and mentally strong enough to overcome the odds and make it back quickly from his ankle injury.

Lawrence faced questions and doubts about whether he could play the following week — then wound up starting five days later during a Thursday night game at New Orleans.

Lawrence suffered the high ankle sprain during Jacksonville’s loss Monday night to the Bengals.
