TRENDING: Philadelphia Eagles Defends Unbelievable after Late-Game Blunder

The Philadelphia Eagles are still recovering from their 20-17 loss against the Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football. However, some reporters are still trying to find the answers to what went wrong in their latest loss, a string of three straight defeats to NFC squads. Head coach Nick Sirianni had a lengthy response when pressed about his team’s late-game interception in Week 15.

Nick Sirianni: Defends QB Jalen Hurts’ 4th Quarter Interception

When asked about quarterback Jalen Hurts’ decision to take a shot downfield late in Monday’s loss, head coach Nick Sirianni said, “You can get a pass interference there. It was what it was in that particular play, but if you get a pass interference call there, and if a team is giving you a one-on-one shot. You get a pass interference, and you’re in a position to kick it.”

Hurts threw an interception with less than 30 seconds remaining in regulation, with the Eagles set up on their 45-yard line with two timeouts. The Eagles, specifically Jalen Hurts, drew criticism for the decision, with his team nearing the range for kicker Jake Elliot. A field goal would have sent the Eagles and Seahawks into overtime, barring a miracle on either side.

Sirianni continued, “We’ve done it other times in two-minute drills, and it’s worked, but in that particular time, it didn’t work, so we understand the criticism, but not only can you get a pass interference, but A.J. (Brown) has a tremendous ability to come down with the football in one-on-one situations… but we are comfortable in what was called and what we did in that scenario, and we will be better next time because of it.”

Seahawks safety Julian Love intercepted the deep ball intended for star wideout A.J. Brown. Seattle deployed Love deep on the right side of the field, making the interception relatively easy for the Notre Dame product.

Philadelphia Eagles: Amid Three-Game Slide

The Philadelphia Eagles have lost three straight games, with their loss against the Seattle Seahawks last Monday being their most recent defeat. Quarterback Jalen Hurts has struggled mightily during the team’s three-game slide, throwing just one touchdown to two picks. The Eagles have lost their top spot in the NFC East, trailing rival Dallas by the tiebreaker. Additionally, they have lost all momentum towards earning the bye week in the playoffs, an honor given to the top team in each conference. However, Philadelphia finishes the year with one of the easiest schedules in football, playing the lowly New York Giants twice and hosting the three-win Arizona Cardinals on New Year’s Eve.
