“To Put The Blame On The Defensive Player All The Time Is Just Flat Out Wrong”
Damontae Kazee’s hit on Michael Pittman Jr. that laid out the Indianapolis Colts receiver wasn’t solely the Pittsburgh Steelers safety’s fault – at least in the eyes of Tom Brady.
On Monday, the seven-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback commented on SportsCenter’s Instagram post showing the hit and sharing the news that Kazee, who was ejected from the game after the play, was suspended for the rest of the season.
Coaches need to coach better, QBs needs to read coverages and throw the ball to the right places and defenders should aim for the right hitting areas.
The NFL suspended Kazee for the rest of the regular season and barred him from any playoff games the Steelers play in. The hit came during the second quarter of Saturday’s game at Lucas Oil Stadium when Pittman Jr. caught a pass from Gardner Minshew II.
The fourth-year receiver was in concussion protocol after the play.
Even while missing five starters against the Jets, the Dolphins permitted just 103 yards of offense, second-least in Dolphins history and the fewest relinquished since Miami allowed just 76 in an October 1973 game against Buffalo.
Miami yields the fourth-fewest rushing yards and 10th-fewest passing yards per game. What’s more, the Dolphins are permitting just 3.4 yards per carry, which is tied for fourth-best in the league.
Those 23 rushing yards were the fewest permitted by Miami since a 2010 game at Oakland.
Jevon Holland, who has missed three games with sprained MCLs in both knees, said his knees are feeling better. His career-high 8.0 sacks are 22nd in the league among all players and 12th among defensive linemen.
In response to a post by Adam Schefter on Instagram revealing that Damontae Kazee has been suspended by the NFL, Brady took to Instagram himself to shift the blame onto his fellow players for putting their teammates at risk of hard hits.
He emphasizes the need for coaches to improve their coaching, quarterbacks to make better decisions based on coverages, and defenders to aim for appropriate hitting areas.
