BREAKING: Cincinnati Bengals Lose Star Player For The Season

The Cincinnati Bengals have dealt with a lot of adversity this season when it comes to injuries. Star quarterback Joe Burrow suffered a season-ending wrist injury back in week 12 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Since then, it has been Jake Browning taking snaps under center for the team, and he has been performing very well up to this point. However, in the game today against the Minnesota Vikings, the Bengals suffered another season-ending injury to one of their star players.

Star defensive tackle D.J. Reader suffered a torn quad in today’s thrilling win and will be out for the remainder of the season. Reader was double-teamed by Vikings offensive linemen on a run play and was pushed to the ground, causing most of the players in the area to fall onto him. He was carted off of the field after the play and ruled out for the rest of the game and for the rest of the season once the matchup concluded.

Reader has recorded 34 tackles and a sack this season and has been a dominant force on the Bengals’ defensive line. In his eight-year career, he has played for the Houston Texans (2016-2019) and the Bengals (2020-Present). He has amounted to 277 total tackles, a forced fumble, and nine and a half sacks in his career.

Cincinnati ended up winning the game against the Vikings in an overtime thriller but will be without a key piece of their defense for the remainder of the season. Some fans of the team are saying that the Bengals should invest in a veteran defensive tackle with Reader now out for the year, especially since the team is now in the middle of the playoff picture. Most fans are saying free agent Ndamukong Suh would be a great addition to bolster the defensive line.
