Ex-Detroit Lions starting safety signs with Cleveland Browns
ALLEN PARK — Duron Harmon, a safety who started every game for the Detroit Lions in 2020, has signed with the Cleveland Browns.
It’s been a season of bouncing around for the veteran safety, with the Browns representing his third team. Harmon has also been with the Baltimore Ravens and Chicago Bears. He spent last season with the Las Vegas Raiders after one year with the Atlanta Falcons after leaving Detroit.
The Browns added Harmon to their 53-man roster from the practice squad after placing safety Grant Delpit on injured reserve.
Harmon appeared in three games, starting one of those for the Bears this season. He started 16 games for the Raiders in 2022, 17 for the Falcons in 2021 and 16 for the Lions in 202, so he’s played a ton of ball in recent years. The 32-year-old is a three-time Super Bowl champion through spending seven years with the New England Patriots to open his career.
Back around these parts, the Lions are trying out some personnel changes in their secondary.
Ifeatu Melifonwu replaced Tracy Walker at safety last week, and Kindle Vildor appears primed to split snaps with cornerback Jerry Jacobs on the other side of Cam Sutton. The Lions are coming off a loss to the Chicago Bears, with the Denver Broncos in town on Saturday night.
