Steelers players become 10th group skipping in-person workouts

Steelers Get Massive Boost Before Colts Game

PITTSBURGH — Reinforcements are on the way for the Pittsburgh Steelers as they get set for a road trip to Indianapolis, where they’ll meet the Colts for a pivotal matchup in the AFC playoff race. When the Steelers do step onto the turf at Lucas Oil Stadium, they can expect to be with inside linebacker Elandon Roberts and running back Najee Harris, who both said they’ll be ready to play this weekend.

Roberts said he felt good after the loss to the Patriots and is looking forward to returning to the field just a week removed from suffering a groin injury during the Cardinals. Despite entering the day questionable, Roberts played, started and accounted for a team-high six tackles and a sack against the Patriots last week.

“I’m good to go, good to go,” Roberts said when asked how he was feeling at the beginning of the week. Harris said he was “good” as well when asked if his knee injury, which popped up on the injury report last week, was going to affect his availability for this weekend against the Indianapolis Colts. He ran for 12 times for 29 yards and caught three passes for 19 yards as well. Both players started and finished last week’s game against the Patriots but neither Harris nor Roberts practiced during the Steelers’ first session of the week.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are reeling coming into their game on Saturday with the Indianapolis Colts. They’ve lost two in a row at home to the Arizona Cardinals and New England Patriots. The two teams combined for four wins before getting right against the Steelers.

To make matters worse, the injury bug bit the Steelers on the defensive side of the ball. However, the Steelers are reporting that star edge rusher T.J. Watt has cleared concussion protocol on Wednesday and is line to play against the Colts on Saturday.

Watt has made the Pro Bowl in each of the last five seasons. He has 14 sacks in 13 games for the Colts this year. He’s a difference maker for the Steelers, and getting him back will give the team a big boost.

That said, the Steelers biggest problem this season has come on the other side of the ball. Starting quarterback Kenny Pickett was hurt in the December 3rd loss to the Cardinals. The Steelers rank 27th in the NFL in both yards and scoring heading into their clash with the Colts. The Steelers weren’t setting any records with Pickett, but they were even worse last week against the Patriots in Mitch Trubisky’s first start of the season.
