The flag flew over the U.S. Capitol building and was presented to him by U.S. Rep. Abigail Spanberger (D), who represents Virginia’s seventh district.

Beasley was born in Fredericksburg, Va., which is in Spanberger’s district.

Beasley received the honor wearing his Texas Rangers road jersey and a blue hat. The flag presented by Rep. Spanberger was framed.

Beasley was part of the coaching staff that helped the Rangers win their first World Series title last month when they beat the Arizona Diamondbacks in five games.

Beasley is the longest-tenured member of the coaching staff, as he joined the Rangers in 2015 under former manager Jeff Banister. In his time with the Rangers, he has served as the third base coach, with the exception of the final two months of the 2022 season, during which he served as the interim manager after Chris Woodward was fired.

Beasley finished with a 17-31 record. He was the only other candidate for the job, which was ultimately offered to Bruce Bochy.

Beasley is more than seven years removed from fighting rectal cancer, which forced him to miss part of the 2016 season.

Before he joined the Rangers, he was a well-respected minor-league manager who was thrice named a Baseball America manager of the year. Beasley led the Hickory Crawdads to a South Atlantic League title and won 372 games with Altoona.
