Dolphins Are Reportedly Adding A Former Pro Bowler On Defense

The Miami Dolphins suffered a very bad loss on Monday night to the Tennessee Titans, a team that is clearly inferior to them on paper, when they blew a 27-13 lead with just a few minutes left and fell by a final of 28-27.

The loss dropped them to a 9-4 record, and it was a reminder that while they’re a good team, they have plenty of growth to do before they start to truly resemble a Super Bowl-caliber team.

One weakness Miami has is their defense, which failed to get stops in crunch time on Monday against the Titans.

In an effort to improve that aspect of their squad, Miami, per Ian Rapoport, is signing edge rusher Melvin Ingram.

Ingram played for the Dolphins last season, and he put up 6.0 sacks, 10 quarterback hits, and seven tackles for loss.

He became a free agent in March, but no team has picked him up, paving the way for him to return to the Dolphins.

Ingram spent his first nine seasons with the San Diego/Los Angeles Chargers, who took him with the No. 18 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, and he made the Pro Bowl in 2017, 2018, and 2019.

He has posted double-digit sacks in two seasons, and he helped the Chargers make the playoffs twice.

The University of South Carolina product joined the Pittsburgh Steelers for the 2021 campaign, and they traded him to the Kansas City Chiefs that November.

The Dolphins rank 17th in passing touchdowns allowed and 22nd in points given up, and on Monday, they allowed rookie quarterback Will Levis to rack up 327 passing yards.
