The Jets Are Finally a Healthy Organization. Really. - Sports Illustrated

Jets defense is on the NFL’s hottest streak of 2023

The Jets defense did something no other team has done all year.

In a disappointing season, the Jets’ defense has been very good. Most of the attention after the Week 14 victory over the Texans is going to an offensive outburst that led to 30 points in the second half.

NFL: Houston Texans at New York Jets

The offense deserves a lot of credit for its play against the Texans. Just don’t forget the defense. After last week’s loss to the Falcons I pointed out that the Jets held Atlanta to just 3.03 yards per play. In that game they became the first team in more than two years to lose a game with that type of defensive performance.

The defense was even more dominant against Houston, holding the Texans to 2.6 yards per play. In the process, the Jets became the first defense in the 2023 season to hold its opponent to 3.1 yards per play or less in back to back weeks. The Jets defense has now authored three such performances. There have only been 13 all season long in the NFL.

Give the offense all the love it deserves. Just don’t leave out the defense.
