Vikings Predicted To Acquire Dynamic Young Franchise Quarterback

The Minnesota Vikings will have some tough decisions to make in the upcoming NFL offseason. While they are still making a run at a spot in the NFC playoffs this season, the quarterback situation is something that’s already on their mind. Do they stick with Kirk Cousins or Josh Dobbs, or consider going after a new franchise quarterback?

Many believe that the Vikings will look to bring in a new quarterback during the 2024 NFL offseason. There are quite a few good options available in the 2024 NFL Draft for them to consider.

Cousins could return, but it seems likely that the Vikings would prefer to find a new long-term option. He will be coming off of a torn Achilles and banking on him being what he was before the injury is risky.

Vikings Predicted To Acquire Dynamic Young QB In 2024 NFL Draft

Pro Football Focus analyst Trevor Sikkema made an interesting prediction for the Vikings at the quarterback position. He has them snagging Oregon standout Bo Nix in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Funny enough, Nix has actually received some comparisons to Cousins. He has a great arm, although there are still some question marks about his game translating to the NFL. In the latter stage or mid stages of the first round, taking a chance on Nix would make sense for the Vikings.

During the 2022 season with the Ducks, Nix has completed 77.2 percent of his pass attempts for 4,145 yards, 40 touchdowns, and just three interceptions. He has also picked up 228 yards and six touchdowns on the ground.

Standing in at 6-foot-2 and almost 220 pounds, Nix has great size for an NFL quarterback. His ability to move out of the pocket when needed is a major bonus. The arm improvement he has shown this season has boosted his draft stock as well.

There are plenty of teams who could take a look at Nix in the mid-to-late first round. However, the Vikings might make the most sense.

Even if they draft Nix, the Vikings could still re-sign Cousins to a short-term deal. Allowing Nix to learn behind Cousins for a year or two would make a ton of sense. This is certainly something to keep an eye on for Minnesota.
