Former Ohio State Star Dawand Jones Wows In Preseason Debut - AthlonSports.com | Expert Predictions, Picks, and Previews

Browns Jaguars Friday Injury Report Includes Surprise Browns Starter

Friday’s injury report for the Cleveland Browns and Jacksonville Jaguars contained a surprise that didn’t come up at practice or during head coach Kevin Stefanski’s press conference.

The Friday injury report ahead of the Cleveland Browns game against the Jacksonville Jaguars included a couple surprises. Offensive tackle Dawand Jones didn’t participate and head coach Kevin Stefanski noted that he tweaked his knee. Safety Grant Delpit never came up, but he didn’t participate in practice and is now listed on the injury report with a knee and no designation.

It will be worth monitoring if the Browns decide to activate another safety ahead of Sunday’s game. If they were to activate someone like Duron Harmon, it may speak to the possibility that Delpit could be limited or out entirely.

Meanwhile, the Browns got some good news in the form of wide receiver Amari Cooper practicing. Stefanski said he could clear the protocol before Sunday’s game and he might be able to play. Marquise Goodwin, another receiver who has been out several weeks with a concussion, returned to the practice field and participated fully, clearing him to play in this game as well. That could provide some help on offense.

The Jaguars are dealing with a few issues outside of whether quarterback Trevor Lawrence will play. They put wide receiver Christian Kirk on injured reserve, but he was never expected to play in this game. The pressing issue is the offensive line. The Jaguars have ruled out tackle Walker Little with a hamstring injury. Cam Robison, the starting left tackle is on injured reserve. That begs the question as to who will play left tackle and line up across from Myles Garrett.

Their current left guard Ezra Cleveland has taken some reps at left tackle so that’s one possibility. If that happens, they could put Tyler Shatley or Blake Hance at left guard. They could also put Hance or someone else at left tackle to keep some the other four positions the same. Shoulder issue or not, Myles Garret puts plenty of pressure on this decision as he’s capable of taking over the game.

The Jaguars are also going to be without rookie tight end Brenton Strange. Tight ends and running backs are likely to be figured in to the gameplan as it pertains to blocking Garrett.
