The Michigan Wolverines are experiencing their heyday as they have won the Big Ten twice in a row!
INDIA PARK — Football has been played in Michigan for 144 years. Never before have the Wolverines won three consecutive Big Ten championships.

As anticipated, U-M defeated the Iowa Hawkeyes with great ease on Saturday night at Lucas Oil Stadium to win the 2023 Big Ten Championship. The first of two Blake Corum touchdowns gave Michigan an early two-score lead, and it was set up by a Semaj Morgan punt return. From that point on, the result was never truly in doubt, even though it wasn’t always comfortable due to a subdued offensive display.

But in the end, Michigan prevailed once more. As Zak Zinter and his colleagues raised the silver trophy into the skies so that everyone could see it, the Wolverines were doused in streams of maize and blue confetti:

These are the winners for you. We stand as your advocates. Once more. once more.

One of the more poignant moments of an unforgettable season occurred when Zak Zinter was helped to his feet by the entire stadium after he sustained one of the most horrific injuries I have ever seen on a college football field. Best expressed on Joel Klatt’s podcast:

“During the timeout, I’m wearing my headphones. It is difficult to hear the audience unless the game’s sound is being played. My headphone is on, but I can hear the stadium coming alive. I apologize if this seems sentimental, but they are pumping up the air cast, the team is inconsolable, and the Big House begins shouting, “Let’s go, Zak!” Come on, Zak!

There is more than one section. There is more than one area. The entire stadium was filled with noise. I had to take off my headset to hear it since it was so loud. I was astounded. Never in my life have I heard a stadium so noisy during a commercial break. There was no band, no music, and no PA announcer; everything was driven entirely by human factor.
