Cornerback Emmanuel Forbes of the Washington Commanders hasn’t had the debut season he had hoped for. This season, the No. 16 overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft has had its share of setbacks.

With an elbow injury, Forbes will now miss his second straight game. Ron Rivera, the head coach, described the injury as “quite significant,” but he did express optimism that Forbes would make a comeback in the season’s last month.

On Friday, Rivera restated his belief that Forbes will play once more this season.

When asked on Friday if Forbes will play again this season, Rivera responded, “Oh yeah.”

He is now better. I mean, we made him a bespoke brace. He has been receiving treatment, and today, I think, was his fitting. It’s just a matter of time from now on. Of course, I think he would play if we played the following week.

Naturally, Washington will have a bye week the following week before playing on the road in Week 15 against the Los Angeles Rams.

Forbes was benched for a while early in the season after his performance against the Eagles and Bears was so poor. With his greatest game of the season, he made a comeback in Week 9. In the first quarter of the Week 10 game at Seattle, Forbes was dismissed by NFL referees following a ludicrous verdict. Despite being wounded, he performed admirably against the Giants in Week 11.

The Commanders are hoping that during the last few games of the season, their 2023 draft class would yield more than they have so far.
