Following Everton’s victory over Nottingham Forest, Sean Dyche provides injury updates on Calvert-Lewin and Onana.

Sean Dyche has revealed that Dominic Calvert-Lewin was a doubt for Everton’s win over Nottingham Forest but should be fit later this week, while Amadou Onana is less likely to return soon.

Both players were absent from the City Ground victory in the Premier League, with Calvert-Lewin’s injury history one of the reasons Dyche chose not to risk him despite the importance of the game.

Onana, on the other hand, is said to be making good progress toward recovery, but Dyche hinted that he might not be ready to play against Newcastle on December 7th.

Dyche told the Liverpool Echo on December 3rd, “Dom was touch and go, it’s a tight one with him because of his past.” I believe he has a good chance for later in the week if he can get through this weekend.

“Amadou maybe not, we will have to see how his week progresses but he is certainly making good progress.”

Calvert-Lewin is hoping for the best.

Beto did his job against Forest and contributed to Everton’s crucial 1-0 win in their relegation battle, but there is a noticeable drop in quality between Calvert-Lewin and the summer transfer arrival.

In his 82 minutes on the field, the Portuguese completed only six passes and missed all three of his shots, while also recording a 0% dribble success rate. [Sofascore]

Having Calvert-Lewin fit for the game against Newcastle at Goodison Park will be a huge boost to their chances of coming away with something, with the Englishman’s goalscoring form giving Dyche confidence in his attacking moves.

Many Everton fans will be hoping that Calvert-Lewin does not suffer another injury setback after his struggles in recent years, but Dyche’s comments suggest that there is no serious issue this time and that the club has managed his fitness brilliantly.

In other Everton news, Neal Maupay sent a message to one of the club’s stars following yesterday’s games.
