Dolphins' Calais Campbell has Super Bowl aspiration in Miami

Teams have called to check in on Dolphins DL Calais Campbell ahead of NFL trade deadline

Could the Miami Dolphins trade Calais Campbell before Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline?

The Miami Dolphins are currently sitting at 2-5 with their 2024 NFL playoff hopes hanging in the balance, and teams around the NFL are starting to take notice.

Should Miami once again fall to their AFC East Rivals, the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, the team would likely begin looking toward the 2025 season and — in doing so — could begin to make players readily available for trade.

One player that teams have already started to check in on, according to The Athletic’s Senior NFL insider Dianna Russini, is veteran defensive tackle Calais Campbell.

Campbell, 38, is in his 17th NFL season and, if we’re being honest, has been one of the best players on the Dolphins roster this year. The former second-round pick of the 2008 NFL draft has started all seven games for Miami this season, combining for 22 tackles, 7 TFL, two sacks, five quarterback hits, three pass breakups, and a forced fumble.

Before his time with Miami, Campbell spent nine seasons with the Arizona Cardinals (2008-2016), three with the Jacksonville Jaguars (2017-2019), three with the Baltimore Ravens (2020-2022), and one with the Atlanta Falcons (2023).

Campbell signed a one-year deal worth $2 million with the Dolphins this offseason.

Deciding on what a team would trade away in exchange for Campbell is anyone’s guess. Personally, I can’t see more than a late-round draft pick or perhaps a player in exchange for the ageless vet. And in all honesty, I think the Dolphins should do what’s best for Campbell and let him go play with a contender. Assuming everything does go downhill as expected tomorrow in Buffalo.

For those who don’t know, the NFL trade deadline is this Tuesday, November 5th, at 4 PM EST.
