Nottingham Forest returned to winning ways after the international break by beating Crystal Palace 1-0 at the City Ground.
The Reds came up trumps after a hard-fought display that in truth could have gone either way.
Had Palace claimed a share of the spoils – or even nicked it – there probably couldn’t have been too many complaints, with Eberechi Eze a constant menace.
But, the Forest class of 2024/25 are made of sterner stuff and ultimately it was Nuno Espirito Santo who was left cheering in the press box as he started a touchline ban.
Matz Sels was in fine form for Forest and another clean sheet for the Reds goes a long way towards highlighting defensive improvements.
One thing that Forest have that perhaps Palace would love at the moment is a goalscorer bang in form and Chris Wood is hot property on Trentside right now.

The Forest striker was given a dig out by his former teammate Dean Henderson last night as he managed to let Wood’s effort squirm under him.
Although the striker struck the ball well, there is no way that his shot should have breached a man who just last week played for England.
But, Forest will take it and for the first time this season, the club has a player in the BBC Sport Team of the Week with Wood getting the nod.
Signed for £15 million from Newcastle, Wood continues to prove people wrong and he’s now edging ever closer to the club’s all-time Premier League record.
Deeney told BBC Sport: “The big man just keeps on scoring for Forest. It is good to see an ‘old-fashioned number nine’ making the difference for his side in the Premier League.”
Who Scored showed that Wood had 23 touches during the contest and after missing two first-half chances, he might have left the field with a hat-trick on another day.

Wood is breathing down is neck now after taking his tally at the club to 20 and he will almost certainly beat it this season provided he stays fit.
