Leicester City star facing race against the clock to find form, Steve Cooper could axe him

One Leicester City star will be hoping for an upturn in form sooner rather than later.

Leicester City are set for a grudge match this weekend as they take on Southampton in the Premier League, a game which looks to be a real relegation six-pointer at this early stage of the campaign.

There is no doubt that the Foxes will be somewhat reliant on star signing Facundo Buonanotte, who made all the difference in the 1-0 win against Bournemouth prior to the second international break of the season.

Jamie Vardy has also been providing a significant impact whilst leading the line for Steve Cooper’s side, and the 37-year-old will likely be starting yet again as Leicester hope to further cement their fellow promoted side in the bottom three.

The Foxes attacker is yet to score a single goal or notch an assist in seven Premier League appearances, and it is clear that he is currently being overshadowed by both Buonanotte and Vardy alongside him in a front three.

At the moment, the 33-year-old is in favour of a starting spot in Cooper’s 11, however when Patson Daka returns from injury, it will be likely that the Zambian will replace the out of form attacker eventually, unless he is able to turn around his start to life in Leicestershire.

Steve Cooper hasn’t done Jordan Ayew any favours during Leicester City start

It is clear that Ayew does in fact have decent abilities, and is able to provide a goalscoring threat in the Premier League, as shown from his time at Crystal Palace, but so far during his spell he hasn’t been utilised to the best of his abilities.

The Foxes attacker, who would favourably want to lead the line, has been played on either wing, whilst also being utilised behind Vardy, and it is clear that he isn’t at his most comfortable when playing here.

Ayew should certainly be doing more on his end to provide much more of an attacking output, however Cooper has without a doubt not done much to help the out-of-form attacker due to the lack of consistency of his position and the likelihood of him being shoehorned into gaps in the frontline.
