“The contract with Ryan Kent, one of the Professional Football A Team players, has been terminated by mutual agreement,” the Turkish giants said in a statement. “We present it to the public.”

Kent has been strongly linked with a move to City throughout the duration of his stay in Turkey, the latest coming back in January when rumours were rife that he would arrive at the MKM Stadium, with owner Acun Ilicali, now vice-president at Fenerbache, confirming to Hull Live that a move would not be on the table, hinting Kent wasn’t sold on the idea of a move to East Yorkshire, despite initial conversations.

“Ryan Kent, at the moment, is not on our list. He’s a very good player, but he’s not in the mindset that we were expecting him to be,” the Tigers owner told Hull Live earlier this year. “He has to plan his career more clearly. I would say that our aim is to sign players that are more determined and focused to join our club. If a player has big confusion in his mind then I wouldn’t try to push him, we wouldn’t push him. It’s not a positive thing to force players. It’s better for us to focus on players who want to come and play for Hull City in the Championship.”

City’s position hasn’t changed on Kent, and he is not a target, largely because the Tigers signed Liam Millar, Mohamed Belloumi and Abu Kamara in the summer window, and also have Ryan Longman and Will Jarvis as wide options in a squad that already has more than 30 players in it.

For City to sign any more players, either on a free transfer now or when the window opens in January, the club would need to move players out to free up space in their squad.
