How Will Commanders Replace Brian Robinson Jr. vs. Ravens?

The Washington Commanders’ tall task just grew to even greater heights. Already facing the NFL’s top-ranked rush defense Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens, the Commanders will now have to try to move the ball on the ground without their best running back. Leading rusher Brian Robinson Jr. on Saturday was listed as officially out with a lingering knee injury.

He has been battling the knee ailment for several weeks, and played only 23 snaps in last Sunday’s blowout win over the Cleveland Browns. Robinson did, however, score two touchdowns. Without him in the lineup, the Commanders will attack the 3-2 Ravens with running backs Austin Ekeler and Jeremy McNichols, and dual-threat quarterback Jayden Daniels.

Robinson was off to a strong start in 2024 prior to the injury, as he racked up 325 yards and five touchdowns through five games. He added another 68 yards as a receiver on eight catches. Behind Robinson’s team-leading yards, Ekeler and McNichols have combined for 263 and four scores. The Commanders are the surprise story of the early NFL season, scoring 38, 42 and 34 points the last three weeks while winning four in a row and leading the NFC East. Copyright 2024 Athlon Sports. He came out of the gates flying, providing explosiveness to exploit improved gaps created by the offensive line and keeping defenses honest through physical running in between the tackles.
