According to GIVEMESPORT, Newcastle United are one of the Premier League clubs interested in signing AFC Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo in 2025.

The Magpies had an incredibly frustrating summer transfer window despite the arrival of new sporting director Paul Mitchell, with no significant impactful first-team signings secured.

Newcastle triggered their obligation to buy Lewis Hall following his season-long loan at the club, a free transfer saw Lloyd Kelly move to Tyneside, while John Ruddy, Odysseas Vlachodimos and William Osula also joined.

An emphatic attempt to sign England international and Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi ultimately became an impossible ambition to meet during the latter stages of the window, with the South London club unwilling to agree a deal after numerous bids were submitted.

This led to real concern within the fanbase as to the ambition and progression the club were willing to put into the project at this point, after the Magpies failed to secure European qualification on a technicality that saw FA Cup winners Manchester United steal their spot.

The concern was only elevated when a controversial interview with Mitchell himself, delivered a worrying insight into the state of the recruitment department at the North East outfit, something he intends to improve with the backing of the owners.

As a result of this interview and the disappointment of the summer window, there will be high expectations to address weaknesses in the first team and wider squad when the transfer market reopens in the new year.

The club obviously wants to bring in an impactful centre-back following the failure to secure Guehi’s signature, but supporters have long expected an effort to bolster the right winger position.

Current competitors for the role, Miguel Almiron and Jacob Murphy, are not seen as long-term solutions to strengthening the attacking threat.

GIVEMESPORT has now revealed that they have sources claiming that Newcastle are one of the Premier League clubs interested in tempting Antoine Semenyo away from the south coast in January.

The popular news outlet notes that the Geordies will have strong competition to nail down the Bournemouth attacker, as both Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are also keeping tabs on his progress with the Cherries ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

There is no doubt that Semenyo would be a worthy candidate to improve the right wing position at St James’ Park, but it will be interesting to see whether Bournemouth would entertain a big money offer for the talented attacker.

The Cherries snapped up the services of Semenyo in January 2023, paying just £10.5m to Bristol City fighting off competition from Crystal Palace, and he has been a revelation ever since.

Over 55 appearances, the Ghana international – who can play across the attacking threat – has scored 12 goals and delivered three assists, but it’s not just his goal contributions that make him an ideal right wing option for the Magpies.

As per FBref, Semenyo ranks in the top 3% of his positional peers across the top five European leagues for blocks and aerial duels won, as well as ranking in the top 14% for clearances.
