The Green Bay Packers were forced to face and overcome enormous adversity Sunday afternoon.
That’s when safety Xavier McKinney started throwing his weight around and Packers quarterback Jordan Love took over the game, in the second half.

After McKinney recovered a fumble, and on the ensuing possession intercepted Matthew Stafford, Love orchestrated a pair of touchdown drives off each turnover to not only erase the deficit but lead the Packers to a 24-19 victory that feels like it could prove consequential come playoff time in an air-tight NFC North raise.
“That’s the mindset you have to have whether it’s in football or in life. There are gonna be somethings that happen to you that are out of your control, and the only thing you can control is how you respond to everything,” LaFleur said, via Tyler Dragon of USA Today. “Specifically with Jordan, I think that’s one of his superpowers. We’ve seen it since the day he got drafted. He just doesn’t blink when the pressure comes. Last year was pretty indicative of that.”
Some of the strife Love was forced to battle began even before kickoff, as top wide receiver Romeo Doubs was suspended for conduct detrimental to the team when he skipped practice while complaining about his role in the offense.
Still, Love finished Sunday’s contest 15-of-26 passing for 224 yards with two touchdowns to two interceptions, while leading the comeback win.
Green Bay improved to 3-2 on the season, to remain two games back of the NFC North-leading Detroit Lions, but Love showing he can be relied upon when things start snowballing out of control may be an even bigger win for the Packers.
The Green Bay Packers shook up their secondary on Sunday en route to a 24-19 victory over the Los Angeles Rams. For the first time this season, rookie safety Evan Williams saw significant playing time, effectively serving as the starter next to veteran star Xavier McKinney.
With Jaire Alexander out again and normal slot corner Keisean Nixon working on the outside, the Packers chose to put regular starter Javon Bullard in the slot, paving the way for a big workload for Williams. He stepped up in a big way, registering double-digit tackles and helping
McKinney continue his hot streak. McKinney tied some Packers history with yet another interception, and he was also part of another turnover play that helped turn the tide of the game in the pivotal third quarter.
