‘Simple as that’ – Hull City man outlines stance on future

Hull City defender Ryan Giles has said he is fully focused on his duties with the Tigers, despite talk of an exit over the summer.

Hull City kept hold of the left-back in the last transfer window beyond the deadline. Middlesbrough were keen on luring him back to the Riverside Stadium but nothing materialised.

Giles, 24, is under contract at the MKM Stadium until June 2027 after making his loan switch from Luton Town permanent.

He has said in an interview with BBC Humberside Sport (via HullLive): “I’m a professional and I have to put it to the back of my head and get on with things. I was a Hull City player and I wanted to give one hundred and 10 per cent, it was as simple as that, really. I’m still here now and that’s what I intend to do. I’ll keep working, I’m not the finished article, there’s still plenty of things I can work on, I just want to improve and keep doing well.

“I’m a Hull City player and I want to make it very clear that I’ll give one hundred and 10 per cent for this club, I want to do well here. It’s not a case of looking elsewhere, it’s nothing like that, I’m here to do well and help the team, climb up that table and get to where we want to be.”

Hull City man on future

Giles hasn’t started for Hull City in their last four outings and is having to bide his time for opportunities.

Cody Drameh has been picked ahead of him at left-back over recent weeks.

The Tigers landed the former England youth international last January on loan and he played 17 games in the last campaign as they narrowly missed out on the play-offs under former manager Liam Rosenior.

Giles was on the books at Wolves from 2008 to 2023 and rose up through their academy.

He went on to play once for their first-team and was loaned out to AFC Telford United, Shrewsbury Town, Coventry City, Rotherham United, Cardiff City, Blackburn Rovers and Middlesbrough.
