Ipswich Town team news: Kieran McKenna confirms Jens Cajuste will miss trip to West Ham and ‘late calls’ will be made

Midfielder Jens Cajuste will miss Ipswich Town’s trip to the London Stadium on Saturday (3pm) with a knee injury while there will be some ‘pretty late fitness calls’ before the match, boss Kieran McKenna has confirmed.

The 25-year-old summer signing from Napoli made his first start for the Blues at Southampton two weeks ago, but was not involved in the matchday squad that took on Aston Villa at the weekend.

“He has a little issue with his knee, hopefully not too major, so he wasn’t available last weekend,” said McKenna.

“I thought he had a good first showing against Southampton but he had a little issue after that and has missed the last week’s training.

McKenna: A Few Being Assessed, Cajuste Out Until After International Break

Town boss Kieran McKenna says there could be changes to his team at West Ham United on Saturday with a few players set to be assessed due to knocks, while midfielder Jens Cajuste is definitely out with a minor knee injury.

While not giving any names, McKenna revealed that members of his squad had picked up problems during last week’s 2-2 draw with Aston Villa or in training this week.

“We have a couple of little issues across the last game and the training week, so we have got a few being assessed before Saturday,” he said.

There’s a chance that there will be one or two changes to the team but some of them are going to be pretty late calls over the next 24 hours.

“Of course, without helping any opponents too much, we’ve got one or two who who have been getting medical assessment in the last few days.”

“He has a little issue with his knee, hopefully not too major, so he wasn’t available last weekend,” the Blues boss said.

“I thought he had a good first showing against Southampton but he had a little issue after that so he’s missed the last week’s training and hopefully he’ll be back after the international break.”
