Journalist calls out manager for treatment of Southampton man – Has been manipulating truth
Chile manager Ricardo Gareca has been manipulating the truth about Ben Brereton Diaz and his treatment of the Southampton forward.
That’s according to Chilean journalist Juan Cristóbal Guarello, via Infobae, who has hit out at the Chilean boss after his recent comments on the Southampton man.
Gareca and Brereton Diaz have a rocky relationship, to say the least, stemming from the Chile boss criticising the forward for not speaking Spanish.
Since then, there have been a series of incidents between the two, with Gareca seen
as humiliating the Southampton man earlier this year when he substituted him off at 35 minutes in the clash with Bolivia
That caused headlines worldwide, with Gareca roundly criticised for the decision and even accused of ‘killing’ the player.
Gareca has moved to dismiss any suggestions of a rift between him and Brereton Diaz but has left him out for the next international break, a decision which has also received criticism.
He tried to explain that decision when questioned on it and his response has not impressed Guarello, who appears to be at the end of his tether with the Chile boss.
“Gareca told a lie about Brereton on Friday. He said that he always nominated him, and it is not true,” Infobae report him saying on his YouTube channel La Hora del King King.
“Ben was not in the first list, but Palacios was, and because he was injured, he called Brereton. The match was in Italy, and it was easier to bring him from England. As he played well, despite coming off the bench for both matches, he had to put up with it.
“Gareca told a very big lie there and that makes one think how many things we do not know and how many things are true that he says. Gareca lied or omitted or tried to manipulate the truth and all three are the same.”
