Davante Adams wants to 'continue' with Raiders, would like to be kept abreast of future QB situation

Raiders Trade Pitch Adds 1st-Round WR Amid Davante Adams Rumors

Davante Adams just missed his first game as a member of the Las Vegas Raiders. The three-time All-Pro wide receiver is in danger of missing another game in Week 5 after ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Sunday he is considered “week-to-week” while nursing a hamstring injury. Adams has been the focus of ongoing trade speculation dating back to 2023, even with Schefter telling “The Pat McAfee Show” on Monday that he doesn’t expect the Raiders to move Adams – at least “not right now.

Still, Bleacher Report’s scouting department evaluated every NFL team’s biggest roster needs before Week 5 and pinpointed the Raiders as a potential trade destination for a former first-round wide receiver. “Davante Adams missed this week with a hamstring injury and the depth at wide receiver is a bit scary,” B/R wrote in its Week 5 roundup.

“Trading for Treylon Burks would give the Raiders an injection of young talent. Burks has not worked out in Tennessee since the Titans used a first-round pick to draft him, but he’s only 24 years old.”

After Adams (209), only two other wideouts – Jakobi Meyers and Tre Tucker – have surpassed 100 total receiving yards through four games. Rookie tight end Brock Bowers (216) leads the team in the category. Burks, meanwhile, has seen only six targets in three games this season, totaling two catches for 11 yards. The 6-foot-2, 225-pound Arkansas product set career highs in receptions (33), yards (444) and touchdowns (1) as a rookie in 2022, but his stats have diminished since. “The physical traits that made him a first-round prospect are still there, but it might take a new situation to bring that potential out,” Bleacher Report added. “The Titans have barely used the former first-round pick after rebuilding their own receiving corps this offseason, so he should come cheap.”

Burks, who was drafted No. 18 overall behind the likes of Drake London, Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson, is currently in the third season of his four-year, $14.3 million rookie contract.

After falling behind 10-0 in the first quarter, the Las Vegas Raiders responded with 20 consecutive points to earn a 20-16 win over the Cleveland Browns at Allegiant Stadium.

It was the Raiders’ third win over the last 20 seasons when trailing by 10+ points at the end of the first quarter: Week 3 of 2021 vs Dolphins (Down 14-2, won 31-28 (OT)) and Week 2 of 2020 vs. Saints (Down 10-0, won 34-24).

The Raiders have now won five straight games against the Browns, their second-longest active win streak against any opponent.

Here are some key takeaways and metrics from Sunday’s victory.

The Raiders ranked last in the NFL in rushing yards (153), yards per carry (2.8) and rushing first downs (five) through the first three weeks of the season.

When asked about the team’s struggles last week, offensive coordinator Luke Getsy gave a simple answer: “I think we’ve got to do a better job coaching it, and players [have] to do a better job executing. … We’ve just got to have greater attention to detail and we will.”
