First look: New England Patriots at New York Jets odds and lines

Below is a compilation of NFL power rankings. The views expressed are not representative of any Jets personnel.

Yahoo – 6th
“The Jets looked great on Thursday night. It will be interesting to see if that was their step forward or the Patriots being exposed. Up this week is a great one-on-one matchup as receiver Garrett Wilson takes on the Broncos’ Pat Surtain II. The Denver CB helped limit Mike Evans to 17 yards on Sunday.”

USA Today – 7th
“QB Aaron Rodgers never threw a TD pass to a first-round wideout during his 18 years in Green Bay … but now he has Garrett Wilson. Speaking of ex-Packers passers, Rodgers became the first NYJ QB1 to beat New England under the lights since … Brett Favre 16 years ago.”

Predictions for New York Jets' Home Opener Against New England Patriots

Sports Illustrated – 7th
“Too high? Possibly. The Vikings game in London two weeks from now is the one we’re looking at, overlooking the poor upstart Denver Broncos like some sort of wallflower. I predicted a Broncos victory in the preseason All-272 just because I cannot imagine Sean Payton allowing himself to twice be beaten by a good offensive coordinator in Nathaniel Hackett, whom Payton tried to embarrass for his own self assurance and protection. Anyway, this defense is incredibly tough and pummeled New England like we expected them to. Offensively, Aaron Rodgers’s mobility has me wondering how he so ably turned back the clock and what the ceiling for this team might actually look like.”

FOX Sports – 9th
“Thursday’s win against New England felt like a ceiling-changing game for the Jets. Aaron Rodgers had been decent through two games, and this Jets roster can win plenty of games with decent. Now, we’ve officially seen him play at an elite level. How often can he repeat that? And how dangerous does it make the Jets if this is sustainable?”

“If Aaron Rodgers is slinging it like he did against the Patriots, the Jets will push for a Super Bowl. The run game is good and the defense is back to being dominant.”

Pro Football Talk – 12th
“Aaron Rodgers is all the way back.”

NFL.com – 13th
“Aaron Rodgers turned back the clock last Thursday, especially for a short-week game, and he’ll most likely enjoy the mini-bye, but the Jets also want to keep this offensive momentum going. They’re starting to develop something interesting on that side of the ball, with at least half a dozen capable skill-position producers and an offensive line that can withstand injuries for now. Defensively, the competition level rises with this next string of games, but Thursday also was the best performance this group has enjoyed this season. The Week 1 struggles against the 49ers still linger in our minds, but we at least know this unit is capable of turning in a quality performance, even if it came against the offensively challenged Patriots.”
