Wolves ‘ready’ to launch move for £26m transfer target who’s just like Heung-min Son.
According to reports from Turkey, Wolves could make a move for another attacker this summer.
Wolves’ activity in the summer transfer window has gone quiet since the start of July.
Despite this, Gary O’Neil will be satisfied with the work he and Matt Hobbs have done so far, having seen the Old Gold’s new additions thrive during pre-season.
While the captures of Jorgen Strand Larsen, Pedro Lima and Rodrigo Gomes are overly positive, it’s now been speculated that another target could be on O’Neil’s radar.

Wolves ready to target Galatasaray winger Baris Alper Yilmaz
Signing Gomes from Braga is looking to be a masterstroke from Hobbs, with the 21-year-old dazzling in pre-season and fitting into O’Neil’s system effortlessly.
Now, Turkish outlet Yeni Acik has reported that Wolves are eyeing another winger to join the pack this summer.
In a roundup of Galatasaray’s transfer stories, journalist Yakup Cinar reported that the Midlands club are one of the sides ‘ready’ to make contact with Baris Alper Yilmaz.
When providing an update on Yilmaz’s future, Cinar said relayed that the Turkish champions do not want to sell the winger but, are braced to receive offers.
“Galatasaray are not planning to sell [Yilmaz] but offers are about to come. Clubs are getting ready to knock on Galatasaray’s door but Galatasaray won’t go easy.
“Clubs from Italy, Lazio, Germany, Stuttgart and Wolverhampton from England are getting ready to knock on Galatasaray’s door.
“We will see in the coming periods whether he will get an offer at the level he wants or not.”
Earlier this summer, Turkish outlet Haber3 reported that the Lions will demand a fee in the region of €30m (£26m) if they are to part ways with Yilmaz.
Wolves aren’t the only Premier League club to admire Yilmaz
What is interesting is that at the time of quoting Galatasaray’s price for Yilmaz, Haber3 mentioned Manchester United, Brighton and Tottenham as being admirers of the winger.
In a separate report, Sabah claimed that Aston Villa were also eyeing the 24-year-old, who has been in high demand this summer.
Given what the forward achieved last season, it’s unsurprising that he is accumulating interest from the Premier League.
In 2023/24, Yilmaz contributed to 19 goals for Galatasaray, playing a significant part in the club’s Super Lig win and Champions League journey.
For Wolves, signing a player of the Turkey international’s profile would be interesting, as scout Jacek Kulig once likened the wide man to a Premier League star.
Describing Yilmaz as an ‘inside forward’, Kulig compared the Wolves target to Spurs ace Son Heung-min, hinting at how high his ceiling is.
Being a right-footed player, the 24-year-old is deployable on both the left and right-wing and could provide O’Neil with further options going forward.
