Chelsea and PSG hold new Victor Osimhen swap deal talks – sources

Chelsea are continuing to negotiate a deal for Napoli star Victor Osimhen but a full agreement is still some way off, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the Premier League club will not activate the striker’s £93.5million release clause.

No club is willing to pay that fee, even though PSG and Chelsea are among Europe’s elite clubs monitoring the Nigeria international’s situation.

PSG showed interest once Kylian Mbappe left the club, but they are negotiating a deal even though they won’t go near the release clause price.

Chelsea have held extensive talks over a swap deal involving Romelu Lukaku heading to Napoli, but that won’t be a straight-player exchange.

According to sources, the Blues would need to do a part-exchange that features the Belgian forward and money.

Lukaku is worth £30million, which Chelsea are trying to use as part of a complex deal to make a blockbuster transfer a reality.

Chelsea will have to negotiate well to sign Victor Osimhen
It is well known that Chelsea are looking for a striker this season after struggling in that area of the pitch for several years.

Napoli are notoriously tough negotiators and will not let Osimhen leave the club on loan as they want top dollar for his services.

The Nigeria international has impressed during his time with the Italian giants, scoring 76 goals in 133 appearances for the club.

It’s believed that Lukaku is seen as a key driving force in a possible deal with Chelsea as Napoli can’t sign him as they need money from an Osimhen sale to make it happen.

Lukaku wants to join the Italian side to reunite with Antonio Conte, but it remains to be seen whether the Blues can afford to make a deal happen with PSR.

In other news, Chelsea fans react as the club signs the next Diego Costa.
