Brighton prepared a very competitive offer for their new top targetâŠbut it wasnât enough
Brighton are pushing hard to sign a right back this summer. The club have been linked to a number of strong players at the position. Out of all their targets though, none are better than Fenerbahçeâs Ferdi Kadioglu.
The versatile defender was linked to Brighton earlier in the window, but most reports made it seem that Fenerbahçe had priced Kadioglu out of a move. Sevilla, Dortmund, and Brighton, all supposedly refused to meet the Yellow Canariesâ asking price.
Despite the past failed attempt, Brighton have gone in again for Kadioglu.
According to a report from Caught Offside, Brighton prepared a new âŹ30m bid for Ferdi Kadioglu. This is short of Fenerbahçeâs reported âŹ35m-âŹ40m asking price, but the club hoped it would be enough to get the deal done, considering itâs believed that Kadioglu wants to move to the Premier League.
Fenerbahçe have already rejected the bid though. Turkish outlet Fotomac says that JosĂ© Mourinhoâs club quickly rejected Brightonâs improved âŹ33m offer. If accepted, Kadioglu would have been the most expensive player sold in Turkish Super Lig history. Fenerbahçe obviously believe he is worth more than that.
Kadioglu was one of Turkeyâs brightest players at the Euros this summer. The 24-year-old played all over the pitch for the Crescent-Stars. He has mostly played as a left back and midfielder. However, he is right-footed and has played very well as a right back.
His versatility made him a mainstay in Fenerbahçeâs side. Kadioglu played 41 matches for Fenerbahçe last season. No player in the Turkish Super Lig registered more minutes than Kadioglu in the 2023/24 season.
This kind of player would be a nice change of pace compared to Brightonâs current right back options of Tariq Lamptey and Joel Veltman, who are both fairly injury prone. Unfortunately though, it seems like Kadioglu will be too expensive for Brighton to sign this summer.

Arsenal plot stunning ÂŁ84m transfer raid as Liverpool eye Serie A star
We begin Tuesdayâs Premier League transfer rumour roundup with news of Liverpool and their emerging interest in Genoa midfielder Morten Frendrup. According to TuttoMercatoWeb, the Reds are keen on the Dane, but could be thwarted in their efforts to sign him.
Despite the fact that admiration has ârained downâ from Arne Slotâs men – as well as Premier League rivals Aston Villa – it is suggested that the Serie A side are reluctant to part company with their asset, and consider him to be âunsellableâ this summer. Genoa are said to be keen on signing Jens Cajuste from Napoli, but see him as a prospective partner, rather than a replacement, for Frendrup.
