Phoenix has 14 of 15 standard contract roster spots filled, so it was reportedly pushing to get Lowry for this final spot. The Suns are operating over the second tax apron, so they could only offer Lowry a veteran-minimum contract.

There have also been several reports that the Suns are still negotiating on a potential Josh Okogie re-signing to fill this last roster spot.

After this Lowry news, Arizona Sports‘ John Gambadoro reports he expects the Suns to re-sign Okogie.

Phoenix will now look to roll with newly-signed guard Monte Morris as its backup point guard barring another signing or trade.

The 38-year-old Lowry averaged 8.1 points, 4.2 assists and 1.0 steals in 28.2 minutes across 60 games (55 starts) for the Miami Heat and his hometown 76ers last season.
