Highly-rated Hull City talent attracting growing transfer interest
The young City midfielder is attracting interest from his former club
League of Ireland leaders Shelbourne are keen on signing Harry Wood this summer as they look to strengthen their grip on top spot.
Boss Damien Duff, who has hailed the impact of Wood’s City teammate Will Jarvis after the winger scored the winning goal at Waterford on Friday night to send Shels into the summer break clear of Derry City at the summit, wants to bring the 21-year-old Leeds-born midfielder back to Dublin having been impressed by the youngster during a previous spell together.
Wood spent a spell on loan at Tolka Park last season during Acun Ilicali’s brief ownership of the Irish club, notching 15 appearances for the Reds, scoring three times and clocking up six assists before returning to the MKM Stadium before heading to Lincolnshire.
The former Manchester United academy graduate played 10 times on loan in League Two with Grimsby Town last season after moving across the Humber in mid-January with his one goal coming in a sensational game against Notts County, with Wood coming off the bench in stoppage time to score the equaliser in a 5-5 draw at Blundell Park.
Duff, according to the Irish Independent, now wants to strike a deal for Wood having missed out on signing him in January when League of Ireland rivals St Patrick’s Athletic also tried to sign him – St Pats also have Alfie Taylor on loan from City.
