Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson has spoken to potential targets.
PHIL PARKINSON is happy to play a waiting game when it comes to completing new signings.
Wrexham finished runners-up in League Two this season and clinched a second promotion in a row for the first time in the club’s history.
Ahead of the club’s first campaign in League One since 2004-05, Parkinson has released nine players, including first-team captain Luke Young and club captain Ben Tozer, to make room in his squad for new signings which he wants to make the Reds competitive at a higher level.
Parkinson has already spoken with potential targets but with the football season still not completed and some club’s yet to announce their retained list, he expects to be busier on the transfer front as the summer goes on.
“There’s lots of options out there at the moment and we are just having chats with a few players and agents which is normal at this time of the year,” said the Reds’ boss.
“Obviously with the play-offs and the Premier League season just finishing, there’s still a lot of retained lists to come out.
“I feel we are in a good place with the options which are emerging.
“Nothing is certainly imminent but hopefully by the start of the season we will have recruited some good players.”
Wrexham have been linked with a number of players, including left-back Tom Pearce and strikers Josh Magennis and Stephen Humphrys, all available following their release by Wigan Athletic, and centre-back Marvin Ekpiteta who is also a free agent after leaving Blackpool.
“Like I have said before, I don’t want to rule anyone in or anybody out,” added Parkinson.
