Former Patriots Running Back Has Landed A New Job.
The Houston Texans have made yet another move to bring in a former Patriots employee.
This time, it comes in their front office.
Former running back Shane Vereen, who spent parts seven seasons in the NFL, is joining the Texans as a player personnel assistant, according to insider Aaron Wilson.
While in the NFL, he spent time with the Patriots for four years after they drafted him out of the University of California – Berkeley in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft.
He would go on to help them win a Super Bowl in 2014 as a solid role player on offense.
He would then go on to spend three seasons with the New York Giants (2015-2017).
Finally, he decided to hang up his cleats in 2018 after spending some time on the practice squad of the New Orleans Saints.
Throughout his career, Vereen was more of a backup running back than anything else.
His best season came in 2014 during New England’s Super Bowl season when he rushed for 391 yards and recorded 447 receiving yards on 52 receptions, which also went along with 5 total touchdowns.
That was what he was for his entire career.
A player that could both run the ball and catch passes.
It is the opposite of what he was in college at Berkeley when he recorded two 1,000-yard rushing seasons in three years.
Now in Houston, Vereen looks to help out one of the ascending teams in football.
