Former Lincoln City Player Makes Non-League Switch

Ex-Lincoln City and Wycombe Wanderers forward Lee Angol has moved to National League side Woking FC on a short-term loan.

The 29-year-old has been at Sutton United for just over a year, where he played 57 times for The Yellows and scored six goals.

Woking will be the thirteenth club of Angol’s career, and his first foray back into the fifth tier since 2016/17.

That season he won the National League title with Lincoln, making 13 appearances for The Imps and scoring six goals on loan from Peterborough United.

Predominantly playing at the League Two level, the striker has also appeared for Bradford City, Leyton Orient and Mansfield Town.

Angol was immediately named in The Cardinals’ league match away to Southend United, coming on as a sub in the second half. He was brought off twenty minutes later with a knock.

Former Colchester United midfielder Alan Judge also made his debut for the Surrey club at Roots Hall, joining on a free transfer the day before.

In the post-match interview following the 0-0 draw to The Shrimpers, Woking boss Michael Doyle spoke to club media about what the pair can bring to the club.

“They’re two great signings for us, they’ll only improve us.

“When I first got the job I saw Alan was getting a bit close back to fitness, he wasn’t too far away. I reached out to him and let him know we’d be interested if he wanted to drop down.

“He’s got so much to offer us as a football club. for the younger players, he’s a massive role model.

“For Lee, We’re a bit short up there at the minute, we’ve probably not got (Lewis) Walker and (Rhys) Browne until a couple of games to go in the season, we felt it was a brilliant addition for us and I think you see from the ten minutes he played he was a handful.”
