Latest Nottingham Forest news as Nuno Espirito Santo’s Reds face Monaco in second pre-season friendly

Head coach Nuno Espirito Santo has named his Nottingham Forest team to face AS Monaco in this afternoon’s match.

The Reds are taking on the Ligue 1 side in their second pre-season friendly of the summer. After drawing 0-0 with Chesterfield last weekend in their first outing, Nuno’s men are back at the SMH Group Stadium.

The start of the new Premier League campaign is just a month away, making this an important run-out for Forest. And in the build-up to the game, the big question mark surrounded whether Morgan Gibbs-White would be involved.

The England international has been the subject of much speculation over the past week. He is wanted by Tottenham Hotspur and was on the verge of a move to the capital a week ago.

Gibbs-White was not involved against the Spireites last time out, having been permitted additional time off due to his international commitments last month. He is in the XI to start the game this afternoon, though.

The rest of the team will be made up of Matz Sels, Morato, Ibrahim Sangare, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Chris Wood, Jota Silva, Ryan Yates, Ola Aina, David Carmo and Zach Abbott. The bench will be made up of Carlos Miguel, Aaron Bott, Murillo, Taiwo Awoniyi, Omar Richards, Lewis O’Brien, Willy Boly, Nikola Milenkovic, Marko Stamenic, Dale Taylor, Adam Berry, Archie Whitehall and Jimmy Sinclair.

Sels will start behind a back line of Aina, Carmo, Morato and Abott. The midfield will be made up of Sangare and Yates.

Gibbs-White will join Jota and Hudson-Odoi in providing attacking support for front man Wood. Nuno is expected to make sweeping changes at half-time as the players build up minutes in preparation for the upcoming campaign.

It is a strong starting XI for the Reds. Sels and Wood are also getting their first run-outs of the summer, having also had extra time off for international duty
