Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl’s ‘picture is clear’ as Southampton and Leicester City links persist
Josh Windass scored his 53rd goal for the Owls in a 1-1 draw with the Hornets, a game fans have been left to fear may have been Rohl’s last at the helm.
He has been linked with Southampton and Leicester City, as well as RB Leipzig in his native Germany.
“My picture is clear,” said Rohl. “The club knows my picture. And to continue, some ways, I think it’s important that for everyone it’s clear in which direction it goes.
“I cannot say more about this. This is then also the responsibility from the club, in which direction and what we announce. But my picture is very clear.
“If we got requests for players from a higher division, if you got requests for a manager from a higher division, I think you should all little bit proud of this journey, even as this feels not good and feels disappointment.
“This is the outcome from good work, what we did in the last 18-19 months. I think at the end everyone deserves a clear picture now. This is the most important because the club is bigger than one person and we should do this in this direction.”
Rohl has previously insisted Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri is aware of the decision he has taken on his future.
His reluctant to commit his future to the club has sparked fears he may be on his way out of S6.
“I think we finished fifth in the away table,” Rohl said. “I’m not sure. I think this is a big, big achievement.

“I’m not sure how many games we lost away. It was not so much. We are always difficult to play against. I think this is a huge step
“If in the end you are 12th then you deserve this. For me it’s more about the development. When I took over we were bottom of the table. This season we were never involved in relegation. The cup is more half full.”.

Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl says his “picture is very clear” amid speculation he is to leave his role following the conclusion of the league season.
After the Owls’ 1-1 draw against Watford, the 36-year-old confirmed he had a clear plan over his own future ahead of the post-season recess.
“I know what I want to do, my picture is very clear,” Rohl told BBC Radio Sheffield.
“But it’s also part of the decision-making of the club.”
Rohl has had to juggle several off-field issues during his time at Hillsborough, including a small transfer budget and a reported strained relationship with owner and chairman Dejphon Chansiri – who has been subject to several fan protests during the season.
And despite being under contract at Wednesday until 2027, Rohl did little to appease talk surrounding his departure this summer.
“I will not forget this place. It doesn’t matter what happens now,” he added.
“To have such a relationship so quickly, such a belief, such hope, such a respectful togetherness – I can’t have expected this when I took over.
“It will be part of the bottom of my heart.”

Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl signed 14 new players in the summer, 10 of which were on free transfers.
Rohl took over Wednesday in October 2023 with the club in freefall, seven points from Championship safety following the club’s worst ever start to a league season.
The German immediately took to the hearts of Owls fans and helped save the club from relegation to League One on the final day of last season with a victory at Sunderland.
This season, Rohl has helped consolidate Wednesday’s second-tier status and after securing a top-half position in the final Championship standings, he was applauded by the travelling support at Vicarage Road for several minutes at the end of the match on Saturday.
“I had a view of my last 560 days at this club to look in their faces,” Rohl reflected.
“How they celebrate, how they call my name – its always special. Big, big respect to them.
“The heartbeat of this club are the fans, they are always there. I have never had a negative experience with these fans, always positive.”
In a closing note, Rohl thanked the club for the support he has been given in his first managerial job of his young career.
“I thank you for all your support – for the fans, the journalists, for the staff. Thank you so much.”
