Jacob Wright felt Norwich City's performance warranted more in their 1-1 draw with Hull. The Canaries failed to grapple with the Tigers in the opening 15 minutes but improved thereafter to create enough opportunities to emerge from the MKM Stadium with a victory.

Ultimately, the post and a lack of quality prevented them from finding a killer second goal, and City were forced to settle for a point against Ruben Selles’s side.

Wright formed part of a midfield trio with Anis Ben Slimane and Jacob Sorensen, which was the 17th of the Championship campaign, but refused to use that lack of continuity in a key part of the pitch as an excuse.

“I think the performance today, especially the second half and after the first 15 minutes, deserved a win,” the Manchester City loanee reflected post-match.

“We had some good chances, especially in the second half, with set pieces and getting crosses in. It’s not a bad point, but we’re disappointed we didn’t get all three.Jacob Wright felt Norwich City's performance warranted more in their 1-1 draw with Hull.

“We started slow and weren’t up to speed. We didn’t quite get the press right, and we weren’t aggressive enough off the ball. It led to them having one chance and taking it, and then we’re playing catch-up after that.

“You can’t start slow. You can’t use excuses like ‘we’ve never played together before’, we’ve trained together enough, we know what’s being asked of us, and we’ve got to make sure that we go out and perform from minute one.”

A frustrating result in East Yorkshire capped off a below-par week that has seen Norwich extract just two points from a possible nine against sides currently 15th and below, hindering their push for a top-six spot.

“It’s a step in the right direction. The last two performances, and definitely the last one, were nowhere near good enough. We had to try and put that right,” the teenager said.

“If we want to push for playoffs like we do, then we’ve got to start getting better performances and better results, and I think the second half was definitely a step in the right direction
