Dan Campbell and Jared Goff may have come up short at this year’s NFL Honors, but one Michigan native didn’t, taking home some hardware for her unwavering loyalty to the Detroit Lions.
Goetzville native Megan Stefanski was named the NFL Fan of the Year for her diehard support of the Honolulu Blue and Silver.
The Lions selected Stefanski as their 2024 Fan of the Year, a recognition that quickly made her one of the most popular figures within the fanbase. Her calendar filled up with commitments, from meet-and-greets to hosting tailgates with fellow Lions superfans, including Chef Geech.
In December, Stefanski’s friends and family — along with Lions mascot Roary — surprised her with the news that she would be heading to Super Bowl LIX to represent the team.
Part of what makes Stefanski’s dedication so remarkable is her journey to Ford Field. An avid attendee of Lions home games, she travels from Goetzville, a trip of more than 10 hours roundtrip and 700 miles, to watch the team up close.
Stefanski is also a member of Pro Football’s Ultimate Fan Association and the Tailgating Hall of Fame. She has built a strong reputation in the community for hosting weekly gatherings to celebrate the team and organizing traveling groups for road games.
According to the NFL’s website, she also organizes a charity event each summer at her family’s bar and grill, Yooperman’s, to raise money for Hospice of the EUP, which is heavily supported by her fellow Lions fans, who show up in bunches. Last year, the event raised an impressive $30,000 in one weekend, following a $37,000 total the year prior.
