West Ham transfer round-up: Harvey Elliott medical verdict, plus £22.5m news

West Ham are ready to raid the transfer market in an attempt to equip Graham Potter with a refreshed squad.

The Hammers confirmed the signing of Senegalese defender El Hadji Malick Diouf on Tuesday (July 15), who joins from Slavia Prague in a deal worth around £19million.

And West Ham are expected to accelerate talks on further signings in the coming days as they prepare for the Premier League’s return.

Here, West Ham Zone rounds up all the latest transfer stories from July 16.

West Ham weighing up move for El Khannouss

Bilal El Khannouss is expected to leave Leicester City this summer, following the Foxes’ relegation from the Premier League.

And according to talkSPORT (July 16), West Ham are among the clubs interested in a move for the Morocco international.

El Khannouss has a £22.5m release clause included in his deal at The KP Stadium and would add much-needed creativity to Potter’s midfield.

West Ham join race for Juventus ace

Douglas Luiz is keen on a return to the Premier League this summer, after failing to adapt to life in Serie A following his move from Aston Villa.

According to Corriere dello Sport (July 16, page four), West Ham have been joined by Everton in the race for the Brazilian, who has been told by Juventus that he is not in Igor Tudor’s plans.

The Hammers will hope to swiftly conclude a deal for Luiz, who would add bags of quality to the West Ham midfield.

West Ham move for Elliott questioned

West Ham are expected to join the race for Liverpool winger Harvey Elliott this summer, who reportedly wants out at Anfield.

But speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone (July 16), former Brentford boss Martin Allen questioned if the Hammers have the funds available.

“Can West Ham afford him? If they sell a couple more players, they probably can. There are a lot of question marks around what they can actually spend,” Allen said.

West Ham could sign Liverpool star Harvey Elliott.
