Sheffield Wednesday clash ‘biggest crowd of the season’ as Owls sell out
The Owls take on Stoke on Friday night in a huge game for the hosts in their bid to put a bit more daylight between themselves and the Championship relegation zone. In order to help, the club put ticket prices down to just £10 for all adults – including the away fans.
It’s already been confirmed that, unsurprisingly, Wednesdayites have sold out their hefty allocation of 3,391 tickets at the bet365 Stadium, and it’s now being reported that the game is set to be the Potters ‘biggest crowd of the season’ with over 27,000 sold for the clash in a few days’ time.
Sheffield Wednesday sell-out again
The Stoke Sentinel has reported that the game will eclipse the club’s current highest attendance of 26,168 when Plymouth Argyle came to town in January, and it appears to be creeping closer towards a capacity crowd in ST4 in a stadium that holds just over 30,000 people when full. Owls fans will make up a big chunk of it.
Meanwhile, ticket details have been revealed for Wednesday’s final game of the season as they head over to Watford on the last day, with the Hornets allocating 2,104 spots for the travelling fans at Vicarage Road for May 3rd. In all likelihood it will end up being a dead rubber for both teams as both sides prepare for another campaign in the second tier of English football.
Before that final day, however, Wednesday will face Stoke away this Friday ahead of back-to-back home games against Middlesbrough and Portsmouth on April 21st and 26th.

Sheffield Wednesday have brought Leeds United youngster Owen Grainger in as a trialist ahead of a potential swoop, as per The Star.
Sheffield Wednesday are staying in the Championship for another year and while senior player contract decisions will wait, calls have been made over players in the SWFC youth setup.
Recent reports from The Star have confirmed a number of player decisions, with the likes of Sam Reed and Jay Phuthi set to leave upon the expiry of their contracts while Ernie Weaver is among those to have been offered new terms at Hillsborough.
Now, with potential trialists being assessed, a new report from The Star has said one talent being eyed is Leeds United’s teenage goalkeeper Owen Grainger.
It is said that Sheffield Wednesday are casting eyes over the 17-year-old Northern Ireland youth international as a potential addition at the end of his Leeds deal. He was one of four trialists involved as the SWFC U21s drew with Brentford’s development squad on Monday night, reportedly making a string of impressive stops.
It remains to be seen how long Grainger spends on trial with the Steel City club but his Monday night efforts should do no harm to his bid to earn a deal with Wednesday.
Decision time over SWFC youngsters
Sheffield Wednesday fans will be familiar with the significant comings and goings at academy level around this time of the season. SWFC tend to make such calls around this time of the year, giving the prospects let go ample opportunities to find new clubs before the summer while paving the way for potential trialists to come in.
There are sure to be more names to emerge as the Owls assess potential new recruits. Grainger looks to be in with a good chance of earning a deal though having impressed against a strong Brentford side.
