Brighton transfer news: Carl Rushworth joins Hull City on loan - BBC Sport

Coventry City are “chasing” a deal to secure the services of Brighton goalkeeper Carl Rushworth amid reports that a deal to join Rangers is off.

Our sister title the Daily Record is reporting interest in a loan deal from the Sky Blues while talkSPORT’s chief football correspondent Alex Crook claims the Championship club hold ‘strong interest’ in the 24-year-old who already knows the division well after spells at Swansea and Hull.

The news comes after it emerged that Rangers’ boss Russell Martin had been keen on a reunion with the former Swansea shot-stopper at Ibrox as he looked to provide competition for Jack Butland and Liam Kelly.

The former England U21 international made his breakthrough in Wales under Martin in 2023/24 – and spent the first half of last season on loan at Hull, albeit limited to just three appearances due to an ankle injury and returned to Brighton in January where he was back-up to Bart Verbruggen and Jason Steele.

Coventry City have been linked for a second successive summer with interest in Sheffield Wednesday striker Josh Windass.

The 31-year-old was the Owls leading scorer last season with 13 goals and the Sheffield Star is reporting that the Sky Blues, along with Derby and Norwich are “admirers” of the experienced forward. Championship new-comers Wrexham are also claimed to be “interested” along with the player’s former club, Rangers, who are currently training at St Georges Park alongside Wednesday.

The Owls said to be open to letting players go in an effort to ease their ongoing financial crisis, with several understood to have tendered a notice period amid a wait for wages and with clubs alerted to Wednesday’s problems.

Belgian forward

The Sky Blues have been linked with interest in Belgian forward Adriano Bertaccini who currently plays for his country’s top flight side Sint-Truidense VV. The 24-year-old, who can play as a centre-forward or off either flank, is also claimed to be wanted by Norwich City and Southampton.

That’s according to Beligian sports journalist Loic Woos, who writes for daily newspaper L’Avenir Verviers. He wrote on social media platform X: “Things are heating up for Adriano Bertaccini! Coventry, Norwich, and Southampton have made enquiries with the player’s entourage, no direct contact with STVV yet.

“Anderlecht are not out of the running yet. Asking price: £6-7m.”
