Thomas Frank hints at what kind of forward Tottenham may sign this summer
Thomas Frank has spoken about the need for further reinforcements to Tottenham’s attack and has hinted at the kind of forward that the North London club may add to the squad this summer.
Spurs have already made reinforcements to their forward line with the permanent signing of Mathys Tel and with the acquisition of Mohammed Kudus from West Ham.
Thomas Frank previously hinted that Spurs might not sign another number nine, revealing that he is a fan of Richarlison.
However, Tottenham continue to be linked with centre-forwards, while some sources indicate that Spurs are also eyeing another world-class wide-forward.
Thomas Frank confirms Tottenham are looking for further additions
Spurs have seen their move for Morgan Gibbs-White collapse, and supporters will be hoping that the club have a strong end to the transfer window, with the squad still in need of reinforcements in several areas.
While Frank did not reveal exactly what profile of players he wants to add to the Tottenham squad, he did confirm that the North London club are not done strengthening their squad just yet.
When asked which positions Tottenham are looking to strengthen, the Dane told Football.London: “That is something I would like to keep very private, of course. We, of course, are out there in the market, and we’re aware where we may want to strengthen the squad in general.
“I’m happy with the squad, and we’ve already done a top signing in Mohammed Kudus who is coming in and showing us his quality already. We’ve got a squad where there is a lot of talent and quality, but of course, we’re looking.
Frank hints at the type of forward Tottenham may sign
The Tottenham head coach revealed that he sees Richarlison as a striker rather than a winger and also pointed out that Heung-min Son and Mathys Tel can also play centrally.
He thus hinted that Spurs are looking for a wide-forward who is good one-v-one and can score goals, but admitted that the club may not find the exact profile they are looking for.
When asked if Tottenham will sign any more attackers, Frank said: “I think first and foremost, I think it’s important that we have some depth in the squad. Richarlison, I see him more as a striker who can also play to the side. Sonny can do both positions. Mathys Tel is a winger but can also play as a striker.
“We need different skillsets. The perfect player is difficult to find, so you need players that run in behind, players that can go 1-1, and players that hopefully can score goals. That’s a big part of it; you need players who can press. Some of them have ball-carrying skills, some of them are very good at pressing players, so that’s it.”
