Tyler Dibling’s recent update is a total wildcard for the Saints board
Porto has become an active explorer in Tyler Dibling’s transfer race and Southampton must agree to a deal that benefits them long-term.
Remember last month’s Saints fans’ outburst that had the club ownership perplexed? While they continued with Sport Republic then, they put their ultimatum clear if not for a Championship promotion under Will Still next.
But, while backing their Will Still choice is a future goal, the management has a burning issue on their to-do list. Needless to say, it’s getting the fast-slipping transfer window back on track.
It’s high time, the Saints board makes some bold calls to convince the fans of their project. And, first and foremost, they must be resolving Tyler Dibling’s saga.
Well, and what better opportunity than to exploit the recent Dibling interest to its very best?
That’s because, as per the Record reports, Porto has emerged as a wildcard contender to win Dibling’s race. Being open to transfer discussions, the Liga Portugal side is ready to patiently reach an agreement that favours both parties.
Saints possibly have a last chance to make Dibling’s exit a win-win
Honestly, this is what, hearing, every Saints fan and especially, the club board must have all their eyes and ears on it. And the reason’s clear, unlike last interests, Southampton have the ball in their court this time.
That’s why, Southampton must grab this opportunity to land a long-term benefitting deal for Dibling here.
In case you remember, the board were instructed on a brilliant plan with Harwood-Bellis’ departure and Southampton may apply this with Dibling too. Being aware of the youngster’s potential, the Saints must push for as many add-on clauses known in the transfers book and preferably a feasible buy-back clause too.
Or, the management can take an alternative route too. Having been tipped to land Juma Bah on loan, Southampton can use Man City’s tactic to allow Dibling’s development at Porto. This way, they can have the 19-year-old continue on the top Flight, and have a feel of facing top-notch European clubs.
Overall, after months, Southampton find themselves in a favourable position regarding Dibling again. Let’s hope they don’t overdo it this time, the way they did previously with a £100m tag on him.
Ex-Saints star Jo Tessem has recommended an indirect gameplan to Southampton which can almost guarantee them a favourable Mateus Fernandes outcome without dragging the sale for longer.
Whenever the transfer window kicks in, every club faces the blunt reality that cashing on midfielders is like pulling a rabbit from the hat. Goals and assists determine the price point of forwards while collective clean-sheets are the benchmarks for estimating the performance ceiling of a defender.
